Kenyan Drake receives “hero’s” welcome in the locker room post-game

The Miami Dolphins won after the “Miami Miracle” left the Patriots stunned but it was Kenyan Drake the received the hero’s welcome.
Kenyan Drake was the last player to hold on to the ball in what has been dubbed the Miami Miracle that beat the Patriots with no time on the clock and 70 yards from the end-zone. After the game and after Drake talked to reporters he ran back to the locker room where he was greeted by his jubilant teammates. Jubilant by the way is the “Words with Friends” word of the day.
After the game, Ryan Tannehill said that they had worked on that play Friday and yes it was a touchdown in practice as well, according to Tannehill. Tannehill said that he thought they might actually get it once they saw Rob Gronkowski as the safety citing that Drake was a lot faster than the deep placed tight-end.
The Dolphins miracle played out with only seven seconds remaining on the clock but it was a critical block way downfield by offensive guard Ted Larsen that was the final spring for Drake to an open sideline.
Larsen who has been the brunt of a lot of jokes made the only block he needed to when he sealed off the running lane at the New England 30 yard line. Larsen’s block was key because Drake was able to get around what would end up being the last real threat to the touchdown. Drake bounced outside and was able to get Gronkowski to pursue at a bad angle that opened the endzone.
Perhaps the best quote so far however has to come from DolphinsTalk.com co-host Tom Ernisse who tweeted shortly after the game, “I would say shame on you to all of those who left the game early but missing that play is punishment enough!”. So true and that is why you never leave a game early.
