The Miami Dolphins will not have Xavien Howard but they will get Danny Amendola back on the field today when they play the Patriots.

A short while ago the Miami Dolphins released their inactives for today’s game against the New England Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium.

Xavien Howard is by far the bigger name on the list but the loss of Jake Brendel today means that Miami will have to use Travis Swanson at center which has not been good a fit this year. Ted Larsen will also start at left guard and has been a human turnstile lately along with underperfoming right guard Jesse Davis.

Zach Sterup will not play and earlier this week the Dolphins put A.J. Derby on season ending IR. With Amendola back the Dolphins are keeping Isaiah Ford inactive today. He has spent most of the season on the practice squad but was signed to the active roster last week due to Amendola’s injury. Miami will keep Leonte Carroo active today.

Carroo has seen more action, it seems, in the last week than in his career. He caught a 70 yard touchdown against the Bills last Sunday.

There are not real surprises with today’s list of inactives. Isaac Asiata has been a huge disappointment and despite being moved to the active roster he is not progressing as an offensive lineman and could find himself looking for work before the 2019 season begins. Early this week the Dolphins coaches said that he was making strides but apparently not enough to be active on a line that has serious issues at guard.

For the Patriots, DB Duke Dawson Jr., CB Keion Crossen, DL Keionta Davis, OL James Ferentz,  DL Danny Shelton, TE Dwayne Allen, and DE Derek Rivers are all out.

The Dolphins also announced that Minkah Fitzpatrick will start on the outside in place of Xavien Howard today. This should be an interesting match-up for the rookie who will get tested by Tom Brady.
