Miami Dolphins lose Frank Gore for the year but he may not return
By Brian Miller
The future of Miami Dolphins running back Frank Gore is uncertain. Uncertain as it pertains to remaining with the Dolphins.
It was announced today that due to an ankle injury, Frank Gore’s season with the Dolphins is over and he will indeed miss the last two weeks of the season. Gore took to social media earlier to let fans know he isn’t done.
The question now becomes where will he continue his Hall of Fame career? Gore was on a one year deal with Miami which will now essentially end in March when free agency begins. It is possible that the Dolphins will bring him back but that is not guaranteed at all.
With Gore now out the Dolphins expect more involvement from Kalen Ballage who took most of the reps Sunday against the Vikings. Ballage turned one hand-off into a 75 yard touchdown scamper. The fact that Ballage carried far more times than Kenyan Drake had many wondering if the hero from the Patriots game was injured. He wasn’t.
Speculation quickly turned to whether or not Drake was in the coaches doghouse but that too was not believed to be true. Adam Gase in his typical talking in circles press conference conceded that Ballage has been running well the last few weeks and showing it in practice. Still the fact that Drake looks to be taking more or less a backseat to Ballage might be a concern.
Gore’s return to Miami was successful and he moved up in a few categories statistically in the NFL but this season was about his return to Miami, his hometown and he didn’t disappoint. Where he goes from here is anyones guess but he showed that he is durable and can still run at a high quality level at 35.
