Xavien Howard is the only Miami Dolphin to make NFL Pro Bowl
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins won’t have a large contingent of players at the Pro Bowl this year but Xavien Howard is one great play to send.
The NFL announced the rosters for the Pro Bowl on Tuesday night and Xavien Howard made the Pro-Bowl as one of the two starters at corner. Howard has played exceptional all year and leads the AFC in interceptions with seven.
In fact, Howard’s seven interceptions is tied for the league lead and he has missed two games with a knee injury. No other Miami Dolphins made the games roster but in reality they were not expected to. Miami’s best option was Howard who tweeted his thanks to his fans.
Miami should do themselves a huge favor and extend Howard’s contract this off-season while they still can get it at a reasonable price. If Howard has another season in 2019 like this year his contract expectations are going to skyrocket. He is currently represented by the agent for Jarvis Landry.
In other Pro Bowl news the AFC starting quarterback will be Patrick Mahomes while Tom Brady who never attends the game was the third QB for the AFC. Out in San Diego Mike Pouncey will join brother Maurkice on the Pro Bowl squad.
Last year the Dolphins thought that Mike Pouncey was not worth his contract and asked him to take a pay cut. Pouncey thought he deserved more and the team released him. Pouncey made waves when he arrived in San Diego and made comments that many construed as a dig towards Ryan Tannehill. Regardless, Pouncey proved that he was right and has had a stellar season for the Chargers making another appearance in the game.
As for two other prominent former Dolphins, Jarvis Landry and Ndamukong Suh did not receive pro-bowl nods but still could be invited as alternates.
For now it’s a big congratulations to Howard who has developed into one of the best corners in the NFL.
