Brian Flores

Brian Flores has been with the New England Patriots for 14 years starting out as a scouting assistant with the Patriots in 2004. Much like Bieniemy he lacks the overall experience that one would look for in a head coaching candidate.

Flores started out as a scouting assistant and worked his way up to defensive assistant and eventually linebackers coach and defensive coordinator. Flores benefits from having served under Bill Belichick and everyone seems to be trying to find his top protegé but Flores may need more time to cull his coaching resume.

2018 was his first year as a DC and the Patriots defense was better than average but not great. He was a linebackers coach from 2016 until his promotion to DC after Matt Patricia left for the Lions. Reality tells however that no one really views the Patriots as a great defensive team and the view of that unit might be a lot different if the offense wasn’t so good.

Flores will interview with Miami and another two teams have shown interest but it is unclear if any of those teams are viewed as legit landing spots for the young coach and there are questions, similar to Bieniemy as to whether he can bring in top assistant coaches.
