A look at the Miami Dolphins coaching options so far
By Brian Miller
Mike Munchak
There is no interview set up yet but there are rumors that the Dolphins have some interest in the former Tennessee Titans head coach.
Munchak played 11 seasons in the NFL from 1982-1993 and was a 9 time Pro-Bowl player and a member of the NFL’s All-1980’s team. His number is retired by the Titans. He began his coaching career in 1994 with the then Houston Oilers from 1994-1996 as an offensive assistant. He would climb the ranks and in 2011 was named the Titans head coach.
Munchak would survive only until the 2013 season and would then become the offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014, a position he still holds.
A couple of teams are rumored to have interest in Munchak. Munchak lost his job at the Titans HC due in part to his refusal to replace several assistant coaches. He himself had replaced Jeff Fisher. In this three seasons as the head coach, his first year yielded the best results with a 9-7 record. He finished 6-10 and 7-9 the final two seasons.
It is hard to imagine Munchak getting another shot at a head coaching job right now. His name however is still being mentioned and the Dolphins are hoping to interview him.
