Notable names not associated with Miami yet

The names we have mentioned are those that have been identified as potential interests for the Dolphins either through requested permission to interview candidates or rumored interest. So far several names that have been mentioned around the league have not yet been mentioned as potential candidates for the Dolphins vacancy.

Gregg Williams – The interim head coach for the Browns has concluded his interview with the Browns but despite a season that almost ended with the Browns having a winning record, Williams is not considered the lead candidate for the job.

Mike McCarthy – After over a decade with the Green Bay Packers, McCarthy is getting hits from around the league in terms of interest. One team is the New York Jets but so far the Dolphins have not called.

Bruce Arians – Arians stepped down in Arizona but has said that he would be interested in the Browns job and would talk if the Buccaneers called. Would he if Miami did?

Josh McDaniels – the Patriots OC and potential heir apparent to Bill Belichick has received lukewarm early interest from the NFL teams in search of a head coach. Perhaps his abrupt decision to turn down the Colts job after accepting it last year is a reason.

Dan Campbell – It would be surprising if the Dolphins interviewed Campbell. He interviewed for the job before Adam Gase was hired and felt he should have gotten the job after serving as the interim head coach after Philbin got fired. Now having spent three seasons with New Orleans as an assistant head coach, his chance may be coming again.

Dave Toub – Another special teams coach who has had a lot of interest over the years from teams searching for a head coaching job has so far found his name not quite mentioned as a potential for any of the teams.
