Darren Rizzi has had almost two full weeks to get ready for his Miami Dolphins head coaching interview. It reportedly happens today.

According to Armando Salguero via Twitter, Rizzi will get his moment with Stephen Ross and Chris Grier as the Miami Dolphins conduct what is likely the last interview in the first round of their coaching search.

UPDATE: It has recently been reported on Twitter that in addition to Darren Rizzi, offensvie coordinator Dowell Loggains will also interview for the Dolphins head coaching vacancy as well. Loggains is the top choice for OC in New York with Adam Gase.

There seems to be more push away from Rizzi as the Dolphins have been linked more closely with Kris Richard and Brian Flores for the HC vacancy. Both candidates were interviewed last week along with several other candidates. Rizzi has been patiently waiting his turn.

In most cases the interviews have lasted little more than two hours so it will be interesting if Rizzi gets the same amount of time or if his will be shorter given the fact he already knows both of the decision makers in this search.

Rizzi has spent more time in Miami than any other coach having joined the team in 2010 and has served as the teams special teams coach as well as carrying an assistant head coaching tag as well. Rizzi has been heralded by former players who believe that it is long overdue for him to receive a shot at the top job.

For many Dolphins fans Rizzi is the clearer choice as the Dolphins work towards rebuilding while others believe that while the Dolphins special teams have been good, Rizzi is still part of a culture that needs to be changed. More and more are jumping on that idea and it has led some to believe that Rizzi’s interview is more or less a fall back option.

The Dolphins are the only NFL team currently without a head coach although the Bengals who reportedly have decided to hire Zac Taylor once the Rams season is over will not have their head coach until then.
