We continue our look back on the Miami Dolphins 2018 season. As we revisit May we recall that a lot of talk was about Stephen Ross being unhappy.

As the Month of May began and the rookies from April’s draft began to get their uniform number assignments, word started to filter out of Miami to media outlets that Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross wasn’t all that happy about the draft results.

According to multiple reports last April, a bit of friction hovered in the Dolphins draft war room. According to these reports Ross wanted the Dolphins to draft a quarterback but the trio of Chris Grier, Mike Tannenbaum, and Adam Gase had other ideas.

The story went that Ross wanted the Dolphins to trade back and then draft quarterback Lamar Jackson. Instead the trio wanted to take Minkah Fitzpatrick and had no intention on drafting a quarterback in round one.

The story was a bit overblown as the Dolphins would recount with Ross only suggesting they move back for Jackson and simply wanted to be sure that the Dolphins were making the right move by taking Fitzpatrick and staying put. Ironically it was the play of Lamar Jackson late in the season that got the Ravens into the playoffs about the same time that the Dolphins were being eliminated with Ryan Tannehill.

While that story was the early talk of May, Ryan Tannehill returned to full practice after missing the 2017 season with a knee injury. Tannehill was the poster child for the Dolphins as they made it clear that he was the face of the 2018 team. The team released a video on the first day of OTA’s showing Tannehill jogging onto the practice field without a knee brace.

Tannehill would show no signs of his injury. He worked on timing and arm strengthening but his knee appeared to be fine. And it was, Tannehill missed time in 2018 but those missed games were a result of a shoulder injury.

In May of last year we also ranked the best Miami Dolphins centers and talked about where Mike Pouncey was on that list. The Dolphins in March released Pouncey who joined the L.A. Chargers. He played in his first post-season game of his career in the Wild Card round with them.
