The Miami Dolphins, their fans, the rest of the AFC East that do not have New England in front of their names want Tom Brady to retire. He won’t.

Speculation continues to build with each passing year that Tom Brady will walk off into the sunset after wins his next Super Bowl. His wife wanted him to leave the game two years ago after they won. Brady says he wants to play until he is 45.

With Brady now advancing to the Super Bowl that speculation seems to be gaining more momentum. Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com mentioned it as well. Like he said in his article, there is speculation but there is also more to achieve.

Dolphins fans don’t want to hear it but the Patriots and Tom Brady do have history to make ahead of them. If the Patriots win the Super Bowl to end this season it would be a fitting swan song for both Brady and maybe even Belichick. Six Super Bowls would tie the mark set by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Cowboys and 49’ers are all tied with the Patriots with five. Winning the big game this year would push the Patriots into a tie with the Steelers and obviously that is something that Belichick, Brady, and Kraft want. So would winning a 7th title which would then put them as the best team in NFL history.

No one remembers the Super Bowls that a team lost only the ones that they win. If the Patriots win this year they will have more motivation to come back to try for that elusive 7th. Then there is the question of Bill Belichick’s run for Don Shula’s most career wins.

Shula’s 347 career wins tops the NFL list for head coaches but Bill Belichick is not very far behind. Don Shula’s career regular season win total is 328 and Belichick is 67 wins behind him. That would take him about 4 and a half years winning all 16 games but since the Patriots typically lose two or three it would most likely take him about six seasons to pass.

Belichick’s overall win total is around 291 (that may not include this years post-season results). It puts him 57 games behind Shula. If the Patriots can win 14 games a season, Belichick will own that record in four years.

There is a lot left for the Patriots to play for and prove to some degree. Despite speculation that Brady may walk off the field if they win on Sunday won’t likely happen. In fact, there is simply too much motivation to continue if they do win.
