Two more set to join Miami Dolphins HC Brian Flores’ staff
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins are impatiently waiting for the Super Bowl like a little kid waiting for Santa Clause because the next morning, they get Brian Flores.
When the Super Bowl is over it won’t take long for the Miami Dolphins to announce the hiring of Brian Flores as their next head coach and when they do, we can stop writing about how they are waiting and write about him joining.
I promise to start that article with “after waiting the entire post-season”. You have my word.
While we don’t know all of the staff that will follow Flores to Miami we are getting ideas even if they are not confirmed. Here is what we know so far and the two new additions that are being reported.
Defensive coordinator – Patrick Graham formerly of the Packers as their linebackers coach.
Offensive coordinator – Chad O’Shea currently the Patriots WR coach
Offensive assistant/assistant head coach – Jim Caldwell is rumored to take on a support role with Flores.
In what capacity these two coaches will serve if in fact they do join the Dolphins is unknown but this is who they are and what they have done so far in their careers.
Robbie Leonard
In 2013 Leonard joined the NY Giants as a defensive assistant coach. He held the position for four seasons before being promoted to assistant defensive line coach in 2017. In 2018 he was given the assistant linebackers coaching job.
Leonard has very little positional experience outside of being an assistant so where he plugs in with the Dolphins is going to be interesting to see.
Marion Hobby
Hobby got his first job in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints in 2006 where he coached the DE’s. He coached the same position in 2007. In 2008 he left to coach as Duke’s DC and defensive line coach until 2010. In 2011 he left for Clemson to be the DE coach and co-defensive coordinator.
Hobby returned to the NFL in 2017 as the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line coach where he has spent the last two seasons. The Jaguars in 2017 had one of the best defensive lines in the NFL.
