Clelin Ferrell (DE, Clemson)

Defensive end is another huge need for the Dolphins, and fortunately, this draft class is filled with them. One that could be available at 13 is Clelin Ferrell, coming out of a recent National Championship win with the Clemson Tigers.

The Tigers had the best defensive front at the collegiate level and Ferrell was a huge part of it. He recorded 55 total tackles, 20 for a loss and 11.5 sacks. He’s powerful at the point of attack and has a smooth flow that doesn’t seem rough. He also sets the edge very well and is a solid run defender.

As to the traits that can be polished, DraftWire states that he doesn’t have a “quick first step off the snap and his speed around the corner is average.” However, these things he could learn as time passes especially if he can tips from Cameron Wake.

As mentioned before, an end is a necessity for the team as it’s one of the more important positions in the NFL. Right now, it’s looking like Robert Quinn and Andre Branch could be taking a trip to the cutting edge and Wake is getting older and his future is cloudy. We need one now.
