The Miami Dolphins fan base was well represented at Walt Disney Worlds Epcot park on Friday afternoon as we mingled through the crowds.

One of the few things I enjoy is walking through the Disney parks and people watching. More specifically Miami Dolphins fan watching. No matter the time of year I love seeing how many fans sport merchandise at the parks on any given day.

My family and I arrived for a four day trip to visit the parks and immediately I began to take stock of the fair weather NFL fans who support the Patriots simply because they win. I expected to find a lot of “Super Bowl” merchandise on our first day but surprisingly there wasn’t much. In fact I remember seeing one SB hat on the monorail and a t-shirt on another entering the park.

Granted, we are in Florida but I was surprised at the number of Dolphins shirts, hats, and in one case stretch pants, on park goers. They far outnumbered the Patriots merchandise. Perhaps that is because of the time of year but with the Super Bowl only a couple of weeks old, I would have expected more.

I love knock off Disney merchandise that really shows a fans true support. Last year after the Eagles won the Super Bowl we were at Disney this same weekend and I was impressed by how quickly a few Eagles fans managed to get Super Bowl victory t-shirts with the “Mouse” on them. No such Patriots merchandise. A welcome surprise.

Today will be another trip to the parks and I will once again be taking stock on who is wearing what and who is being supported. Now to be fair, I don’t represent all the time. I like my Disney shirts and I like to act like a kid with my kids.

Today however, I will be sporting my 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins hat SO if you read this far and will be at Epcot today or any of the other parks and see me, feel free to come up and say hi!
