Robert Quinn – $12.9 million

Quinn was acquired via trade ahead of last years draft and all indications were that he would turn in a potential pro-bowl season opposite of Cameron Wake. That didn’t happen and Quinn was mostly a disappointment in 2018.

The Dolphins are going to be thin at DE if they release Quinn and they may instead ask him to take a pay cut instead of an outright release but Quinn would likely nix that unless the guaranteed money was relatively the same. He is scheduled to make $12.932 million in 2019.

According to OverTheCap.com as seen in the image above, the Miami Dolphins would save the entire contract which is not guaranteed. 2019 is the final year of that deal. If the Dolphins wanted to reduce his cap and leave him on the roster, they would need likely extend his deal.

The rub here is that while Miami maintains they will use multiple defensive looks moving forward, Quinn does not play well as an OLB in a 3-4 style and that could keep Miami from making an offer to extend him.
