DeVante Parker – $9.38 million

DeVante Parker is expected to be released. He would play on the 5th year option that Miami picked up last season. The option would pay him $9.387 million in 2019. Through Parker’s entire NFL career he has yet to come close to living up to the expectations he held coming out of college regardless of where he was drafted.

The Dolphins were thrilled in 2015 when they selected him in the first round and they have paid him well through four seasons despite the lack of productivity. Immediately replacing Parker might not be easy as the Dolphins will likely go in other directions through the draft and free agency isn’t conducive to adding a top level wide-receiver.

Miami doesn’t want to overpay for a receiver and despite speculation that the Dolphins could have interest in Antonio Brown the compensation and the salary would not be inline with a re-building franchise. The Dolphins will likely either pick up a cheap option in free agency or draft a mid-round receiver to mold.

With the Dolphins offensive coordinator and head coach both coming from New England they are well aware that you can have offensive success with a top wide-out but it definitely helps. Unfortunately Parker can’t be relied upon for that role.

The Dolphins would get back the entire $9 million plus in cap space.
