The Miami Dolphins may have been linked to Kyler Murray in many mock drafts the last few weeks but now, they have no chance as Murray rises.

NFL mock drafts are seeing Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray’s draft stock start to rise after he measured in at the NFL Combine. Murray will not throw or workout at the annual event but his measurements seemed to have quieted his “size” doubters.

Murray’s hands measured in just a hair of 9″ which is considered the NFL’s baseline measurement for a quarterback. He also measured just over 5’10” in height just clearing another NFL baseline measurement. It has been enough to move him up. Considerably.

Just before the Senior Bowl Murray wasn’t sure if his future was the NFL or the MLB. After a much criticized interview on Dan Patrick, many wrote Murray off their draft boards. A short time later he declared for the NFL Draft and said his heart was with football.

The drama around Murray didn’t stop. He still would not 100% commit to the combine, then said he would workout, then said he wouldn’t. In several interviews with media in Indianapolis, Murray came across aggravated at times and distant. Yet his media sessions have not hurt his draft stock.

With still a month away from the draft, Murray has emerged as the consensus number one overall pick. A pick that is owned by the Arizona Cardinals. A team who last year traded ahead of the Dolphins to draft quarterback Josh Rosen.

The Cardinals fired their coaching staff this off-season and hired Kliff Kingsbury. At the combine Kingsbury said that Allen was his quarterback, “for now”. Many now believe that the Cardinals will use that first pick on Murray and then attempt to trade Rosen.

The rise of Murray means that the Dolphins will not likely be in play for Murray. That disappoints some fans and makes others a lot happier. Not everyone is in love with the Sooners’ Heisman winner.
