Do the Miami Dolphins look at wide receiver at pick 13?

The Miami Dolphins are not likely going to keep Devante Parker this off-season. So, does that mean the Fins could look at WR in the first round this year?

While I’m pretty pleased with several of the pieces that the Dolphins have in their wide-receiving corps, I think a couple of guys should still be added. It doesn’t have to be in the first round, either; there are several later-round pass-catchers I like.

I like Albert Wilson, Jakeem Grant, and Kenny Stills. Devante Parker is all but gone, so I’m not factoring him in and Danny Amendola could be a cap casualty, so I’m not adding him in, either.

The reason I even am bringing up the idea of taking a first-round wide receiver is because of the showing some of the big names had during the Combine. I think guys like D.K. Metcalf, A.J. Brown, N’Keal Harry, Hakeem Butler, Deebo Samuel, and Riley Ridley will go in the first round.

Now I’m wondering if the Miami Dolphins will look at WR at 13, especially since the Combine is over and many of the guys I just mentioned looked good. My initial inclination is still that WR isn’t one of the higher positions on the Fins big board.

One of the bigger names, N’Keal Harry, was under the microscope during the Combine. There were questions surrounding his speed and explosivity, so Harry quelled many of those concerns when he clocked in with a 4.53.

I could see N’Keal Harry going in the first round, but not until the late 20s or early 30s. I don’t think he’d be a wise option for the Dolphins at 13.

One of the biggest, if not THE biggest, names was D.K. Metcalf. We knew he was huge, but he showed the straight-line speed was equally impressive at 4.33.

I’m not going to get nit-picky with his 3-cone time; he’s the frontrunner to be the first receiver taken. It could be in the top 10, but I don’t see him dropping out of the top 15.

As for the Dolphins, if Metcalf is available, I think I’d pass. There’s enough depth in this WR class for me to feel comfortable with several guys on Day 2 and 3, maybe someone like Andy Isabella, Jazz Ferguson or Mecole Hardman.

With that being said, I think the Dolphins should wait. I’m starting to come into the school of thought that the best offensive lineman could be the way to go if the Dolphins stand pat at 13. I’m even cool with taking a defensive lineman too, like one of the guys from Clemson.

But, by the time it’s over, I think the Miami Dolphins will have ended up taking a Day 3 wide receiver and addressed a different need in the first round, barring a trade down, then the jury’s out.
