The Miami Dolphins defensive front line is a big question mark heading into the NFL Draft season and free agency didn’t provide Miami with anything.

Now that Brian Flores is in charge the Miami Dolphins and their defense, a multi-look system will be installed. Designed to confuse the opposing offenses and take away their strengths, the Dolphins are going to need to change up some of their defensive tackles.

The draft is already being hyped as an early defensive game changer for the Dolphins who many predict will go with the big DT’s in round one. For now the Dolphins sit pat on what they have and will supplement them with draft prospects as needed.

Returning is Davon Godchaux and Miami will  have Vincent Taylor back from his 2018 injury. Taylor was making positive steps in development and should be able to pick back up. The Dolphins still have Akeem Spence with surprises many as well.

The Dolphins would get back the entire $3 million and change by releasing Spence. His contract is not guaranteed and the Dolphins could simply be waiting it out to see how the draft plays out. Or they simply believe that Spence at $3 million is providing depth.

Rounding out the DT’s on the roster so far are Kendrick Norton and Jamiys Pittman. Both are unknowns and will have to compete for a roster spot on their developmental deals.

Miami hasn’t lost anyone from their roster but fans are taking some comfort in the lack of market for Ndamukong Suh who was released a year ago at the start of free agency. He remains on the market but don’t expect the Dolphins to remotely consider bringing him back on a one year deal.

The free agent market was thin at defensive tackle and the Dolphins did right by standing firm and waiting on the draft.
