The draft is officially one month away, and with that in mind, here is how I see the draft going down for the Miami Dolphins.

To understand my logic, here is how I see the first 12 picks going down:

Arizona – K. Murray – coach loves him
49ers – N. Bosa – they are building something special
Jets – J. Allen – Anthony Barr Jr
Oak – J. Williams – they released Penn and need a replacement
TB – Devin White – they lost all their Linebackers
Giants – D. Hoskins – I don’t believe the hype, they will draft a QB here and WR at 17
Det – M. Sweat – can you image Flowers and Sweat as your book ends?
Bills – J. Taylor – Protect Allen at all cost
Den – Quinnen Williams – Best Available Player
Cin – D. Bush – they lost all their Linebackers
GB – E. Oliver – this sucks, but Packers find their true tackle

My top three players are off the board.  Let’s be honest. I wanted Sweat, then Taylor, then Oliver, but my dreams were crushed.   Assuming there are no trades in this mock, here is how I see the rest of the board:

R. Gary – DE – Michigan – raw, but could underperform and wasn’t the best DE at Michigan
G. Williams – CB – LSU – Love his length – but I honestly have DeAndre Baker as the best CB in this draft
D. Baker – CB – Georgia – man crush 101.  He reminds me of Patrick Surtain.

However, the Dolphins problem is that they can’t line up for their Dline – so we are left with Clelin Ferrell, or Christian Wilkins or Brian Burns. The fact that the Dolphins hired Clemson former coach, Burns is now eliminated.

With the 13th overall pick in the NFL draft – the Dolphins select Christian Wilkins.  Getting Wilkins ensure that the Dolphins now have a true Nose Tackle that can can control the line of scrimmage and not eat up 25MM in cap space.

2nd round – 39th pick – Oshane Ximines Edge – Old Dominion

·         Listen, I just heard about this kid a few weeks ago and he’s on my crush list.  This kid is a freak of nature and loves to get after the quarterback.  Watch the tape on him and you will lean back and say DAAAM.  He reminds of Cameron Wake and Jason Taylor.  With the two top picks, Dolphins rebuild their Dline in stopping the run and attacking the quarterback.

3rd round – 78th overall pick – Yodny Cajuste – OL – West Virginia

·         Dolphins find their replacement for J. James who left for ‘greener’ pastures in Denver.  Cajuste can start day 1 and fill the need for right tackle and could potentially switch if required to left tackle in case of any injury to Tunsil

4th round – 116th overall pick – Isaiah Johnson – CB – Houston

·         Eric Rowe was signed. Tank is a former 3rd round pick, Minkah could potentially play outside, so there are options, but Flores stated he wants competition at every position.  Isaiah reminds me a lot of Sean Smith, long rangy cornerback with elite 4.4 speed.  Exactly what we want from a press corner.

5th round – 151st overall pick – Nate Herbig – G – Stanford

·         Herbig does one thing exceptionally well – pull.  He’s on the best pulling guards in this draft class.  Look at the Patriots run O from last year and I can’t tell you how much they had a swing guard, this pick makes sense.

7th round – 233rd  overall pick – Tryrel Dodson- LB  – Texas A&M

·         I like this kid game.  Special teamer and has a skill set that could lead to something.

7th round – 234th overall pick – Jaylen Smith- WR  – Louisville

·         Slot WR that could make the roster.

There you have it.  Let me know what you think and who you would select differently.
