Reshad Jones will miss this weeks voluntary workouts and many are wondering if that is something to be concerned about.

Miami Dolphins Safety Reshad Jones has been reported “not present” for the voluntary workouts beginning this week. There have been rumors floating around about him possibly no longer being on the team following a possible trade or post June 1st cut.

When asked about the situation today Miami’s head coach Brian Flores responds with “Him and I have been in constant communication,” Flores said via the Miami Herald. “He’s here, he’s part of the organization,” Flores said. “He made a decision to train somewhere else. It’s voluntary.”

These may be good signs in the direction of Jones staying with the Dolphins for the entirety of the 2019 NFL season.

This would be Jones ninth season in the aqua and orange. After working his way up the roster after being a fifth round pick in 2010. Even with that being said there is no certainty on his future in Miami. Especially with the emergence of Minkah Fitzpatrick from the 2018 first round pick.

Jones is Miami’s second longest active member on the Dolphins behind long snapper John Denney. Who has been with the team for 14 years and going into his 15th season after being re-signed this offseason.

That being said many fans around the league are aware who Jones is. They also know what he can bring to the table as a Swiss Army Knife type safety since you can line him up anywhere on the defensive side of the ball. That type of player is not the easiest to find.

It would be a shame for Miami to get rid of Jones by releasing him. At the very least Miami must get something out of getting rid of him if they proceed to do so. Some teams to consider possible trade destinations could be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, or the Carolina Panthers. It will be interesting to see how Miami handles this situation.

These are all possible money moves involving pre/post June 1st release/trade in 2019.
