Miami Dolphins best draft plan should be starting on the line of scrimmage

The Miami Dolphins have a lot of ways they can go on draft day but the line of scrimmage is where they should start and focus.

The line of scrimmage is the biggest weakness on the Miami Dolphins. Doesn’t matter if it is on the offensive side or the defensive side. While the defense can’t stop the run, the Dolphins can open holes to run on offense.

Miami has holes at defensive end and defensive tackle. They have holes at right guard, left guard, and right tackle regardless of them saying the Jesse Davis will be the starting right tackle. They could also use a center as well.

Nothing for the Dolphins this year is a luxury pick. They have needs everywhere but the line of scrimmage is the biggest problem.

Miami could find a quarterback in next years draft with little problem. They are not expected to be drafting low and there are at least three or even four first round projected quarterbacks in the 2020 draft. So for a player like Dwayne Haskins or even a Drew Lock, first round expenditure this year doesn’t make sense when the line of scrimmage is so bad.

This years draft is good at the top with offensive and defensive players. From edge rushers like Brian Burns and defensive lineman like Christian Wilkins and Ed Oliver to offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor and guard Cody Ford, the Dolphins should have plenty of options on either side of the ball.

While many fans and media continue to ride the quarterback train, the truth is any quarterback drafted this year will sit behind Ryan Fitzpatrick while the offensive line continues to go with little or no attention. That offense will try to figure out a way to keep pace with a defense that can’t stop the run or pressure the passer. If tanking is the plan then draft a player in round one who won’t make any difference in the 2019 season.

Miami must focus on the trenches in this draft.
