Quarterback Daniel Jones has interest from the Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are suddenly the darlings of the quarterback needy teams heading into Thursday night and now, Daniel Jones is being discussed.

For the record, nothing that the Miami Dolphins is planning is known by anyone at this point but there is talk that Duke quarterback Daniel Jones could be in play. At least according to one who says that Miami has done a lot of research on them.

Like everything at this point, there is likely little more than a puff of smoke and nothing more but Jones is an intriguing prospect in that he isn’t discussed much by the draft nerds. Not in reference to being a top 15 draft pick. That however could change once teams are on the clock.

Jones however may not make it to 13 believe it or not. There are some speculating that the Redskins are trying to move up into the top five of the draft. This was reported as being 100% accurate. That person believes that the Redskins want Jones. That would be a major shake-up in the draft and a big surprise selection.

Chances are it is another QB that the Redskins would be targeting.

Back to the Dolphins, it is hard to dissect what exactly they will do with their pick in round one. While QB is a need the Dolphins reportedly have more interest in the 2020 draft class than this one.

Jones is an interesting prospect. He has been coached by the same guy that coached Eli and Peyton Manning at the college level. To some degree anyways. Saying that Jones could be like either one of them is a stretch. There are gaps in his game and many Dolphins fans believe that he would be nothing more than a Ryan Tannehill type quarterback. Wearing number 17 in college doesn’t help with that imagery.

Indeed, Jones has issues with pocket awareness but he is capable of reading defenses and has a good arm to go along with a solid intelligence of the game. Still that doesn’t take away from the fact that he will need a really solid supporting cast around him.

Drafting Jones could be a major success but many experts believe that if the Dolphins drafted Jones they will be looking for another starting franchise QB in a few years. If that is true, the Dolphins really need to think about this possibility.
