If you watched the Miami Dolphins select Christian Wilkins you will have seen him show the intensity and energy that the team needs.

Christian Wilkins is the Miami Dolphins 2019 first round pick and he displayed the same kind of charisma after his selection that the team needs more of on both sides of the ball.

Wilkins is energetic and passionate. After reaching the stage with Roger Goodell, Wilkins jumped into the air to shoulder bump the much smaller NFL Commissioner. Wilkins is not a stranger to fun antics, after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide, the 300 plus defensive tackle showed off his flexibility by grabbing his leg raising it into the air and doing a split in full uniform on national television.

This is the guy that the Miami Dolphins drafted. A guy who wants to destroy the opposing team with the energy and vocal prowess that has been missing on the Dolphins since Jason Taylor retired. He isn’t a “lead by example” type of player, he is a leader both vocally and by example.

On the field, Wilkins is a tough interior defender who is both disciplined and quick off the ball. Wilkins brings an intensity that the Dolphins lack. He is a player that can fill the NT role if the Dolphins move to a 3-4 base or the DT in a 4-3 that will take on a guard and center and push them both back into the quarterback.

Wilkins is going to find the NFL a lot different from the level of play in college but he has the intelligence, two degrees at Clemson, to study the tape and take advantage of an opposing teams weakness. Fans may not be certain of Wilkins should have been taken over Dwayne Haskins but there is very good chance they won’t be at all.
