The Miami Dolphins “close” trade for Jadeveon Clowney continues to drag forward but now it is DeVante Parker’s name who is starting to gain momentum.

According to rumors on social media, DeVante Parker may indeed be the target of the Houston Texans as the receiver they want in any deal involving Clowney.

Last year it was reported that the Texans tried to trade for Parker, this report has not been confirmed, but that the Dolphins refused. Could they be pushing for Parker over Kenny Stills?

While all the speculation is fun at this point, Clowney is the one who holds all the cards and he may not care what the Dolphins or any other team is doing or wants to do.

Clowney still does not have an agent after firing his previous agent six days ago and it doesn’t appear that he is in a hurry. He has told the Texans that he is more than willing to miss games this year rather than report to the Texans or sign his tender. A trade can not happen until Clowney signs his franchise tag.

If Clowney does intend to miss game the Dolphins will likely move on from the deal at some point as they begin prepping for the week to week games instead of preseason. If Clowney doesn’t really want to be a part of the rebuilding Dolphins, then Miami needs move on. The Dolphins should know that money won’t buy a players’ willingness to perform at a high-level. Clowney has said that he wants to play for a contender.

As for Parker this is an interesting development consider many believed that it was Kenny Stills who would be the guy involved in any trade. Now that may not be the case. Parker has been largely disappointing through his first four seasons and many fans were surprised when the Dolphins signed him to a team friendly two-year extension this past off-season after rescinding the 5th year option.
