Looking back at the flurry of Miami Dolphins trades this past week

What Miami receives: Linebacker Vince Biegal for Kiko Alonso
In a rare player for player swap, the Dolphins were able to rid themselves of a horrible contract that Kiko Alonso had while adding a solid prospect that should make an immediate impact on special teams.
Why this may work for Miami: The Dolphins were hoping to move Alonso after he requested a trade two weeks ago. Not considered a player in the Dolphins immediate or future plans, the Dolphins did well moving him for anything. The biggest part of the trade is that they were able to get rid of almost $6 million in cap room. If Miami coaches can get positive performance out of Biegal, it’s a win.
Why this may not work: There really is no downside to this trade at all. No draft compensation was involved and Miami got rid of a contract without eating it.
