The Miami Dolphins are not through making roster moves as they released offensive lineman Zach Sterup today after making several trades on Saturday.

A day after making several trades that included two new offensive lineman, the Miami Dolphins have released veteran guard/tackle Zach Sterup today.

Undrafted by the Dolphins in 2017, Sterup defied the odds and made the Dolphins 53 man roster. In his two seasons with Miami, Sterup started only two games, one in each of his two seasons. He appeared in 12 games over that time.

Miami is churning the bottom of their roster and filling out their practice squad. Nothing has been made official yet but the team is likely to make more moves on the roster before the day is over.

On Saturday the Dolphins added offensive lineman Evan Boehm, Julie’n Davenport, and Danny Isidora. Clearly the Dolphins have not been happy with the offensive line play but do any of these additions make them better? Probably not much more than serviceable at this point.

To counter the line play, the Dolphins may employ a quicker fast paced offense that will rely more on the short passing game to get the ball out of the hands of the quarterback before pressure can collapse the pocket. As for the running game, who knows at this point. Miami kept five running backs on the roster, Kenyan Drake, Kalen Ballage, Mark Walford, Myles Gaskin, and Patrick Laird. They also kept fullback Chandler Cox. They may need this many runners in 2019.

We will update later on the status of the practice squad once there is a clearer indication as to who is joining the team. It was also pointed out on social media earlier today by Armando Salguero that none of the Dolphins released players were picked up by other teams via waivers. They were the only AFC East team not to have a player claimed.
