The Miami Dolphins annual event fundraiser, Dolphins Cancer Challenge announced today at half-time that they raised over $5 million last year.
At today’s Miami Dolphins vs. Washington Redskins game, presented by Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, held a half-time presentation to announce that there has been over $5 million raised towards the fight for a cure to cancer.
The Miami Dolphins Cancer Challenge is an initiative or the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
DCC IX was run last year and has evolved into the biggest event on the Dolphins non-football calendar. Started in 2010, the event has annually grown. Once run during the season, Tom Garfinkel opted to move the event to February after the season was over. This gave opportunities for others in NFL circles to participate.
Last year’s marquee event totaled $5,237,879 million in support of the NFL’s Crucial Catch campaign. The nine-year event total has surpassed $32.5 million. All of the proceeds go towards finding a cure and helping to pay the costs of those in treatment.
Today, the team honored the 300 cancer survivors that participated in the DCC IX event. In addition, two cyclists rode stationary bikes on the Southeast corner of the field in an effort to raise awareness that helps fund the Ride DCC event.
Artist Alex Mijones and Univsions’ Luisiana Rios will be the two cyclists riding for awareness.
The next event will take place on February 29, 2020. The weekend event will feature several fundraising opportunities throughout the weekend culminating in the ride event. You can join the event as a cyclist or can donate and sponsor other riders. To find out more visit Dolphinscancerchallenge.com
