Miami Dolphins post-game press room is rather surprising

Following every game, the Miami Dolphins head coach makes his way to the post-game interview room and it is a bit surprising.

After the Miami Dolphins lost their week six game against the Washington Redskins, media members made their way down the elevator and into the hall where they waited to ask the coach questions.

As you enter the tunnel the players that are still on the field continue to trickle by while you wait for the locker room to open for media access. An orange square that is lit meets the players on their way in while serving as a backdrop on their way out. It looks like pieces of a video board combined together to form a big picture frame. That is where media line up to enter the locker room.

On Sunday, I opted to skip the locker room in an attempt to get a sound bite that every other reporter or media member was going to try to get from this player or that player. This time around, I wanted to head to the post-game presser by coach Flores.

Entering the room you are greeted with a smallish room with a line of cameras pointed at the podium where a large Miami Dolphins banner hangs behind the podium. Five rows of chairs sit between the cameras and the podium.

On the floor snakes video and power cables and the cameramen dig through bags for any last minute needs or camera checks. They hardly realize you are there and when they do act as though you are simply part of the myriad of stuff in the small room. They are not put out by you scurring for a way to the seats.

That path is to the right where you step around a camera stand and over a cable or two. Personally, I thought this would be a larger room but having seen the same room at the Dolphins training facility, I should have known differently.

A member of the Dolphins media steps in from a door to the left and announces that the coach, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Josh Rosen will be speaking. Members of the media take their seats but the seating is plenty and not filled.

From start to finish, including waiting, the pressers last for maybe 10 to 15 minutes, for all three. Then again, how many sounds bites can you really get? The experience however was really cool to see and after experiencing it, it gives a different feel to what you see on television or on the recorded clips.

It was a great experience and as I said, surprising but in more of a positive way. It would have been nice to win the game however.
