Dolphins’ Bobby McCain to be disciplined for fan incident against Buffalo
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins played in Buffalo on Sunday and Bobby McCain will face team discipline because he couldn’t handle the Bills crowd.
According to a report on ESPN, Bobby McCain got into a verbal confrontation with a fan and also allegedly spit in the face of another Bills fan following the game. While nothing is confirmed yet, the NFL apparently is investigating the incident.
The Dolphins are handling the incident internally according to head coach Brian Flores who told members of the media that McCain should have handled the situation differently. McCain issued an apology as well.
Despite the fact that no one knows for certain if the accusations are 100% true or not, the report is that McCain threatened to spit on the 13-year-old who called McCain “irrelevant”. After the game, McCain reportedly spit in the face of a 28-year-old Bills fan as he left the field through the tunnel.
The incident, again according to ESPN, is being investigated by the local Sherrif’s office as well as the NFL. There is no indication that McCain will face league discipline as well as team discipline. There is also no word as to whether the Dolphins will suspend him for a game.
Nothing good seems to come from playing in Buffalo. Bryan Cox was immortalized by Dolphins fans decades ago for giving a two-handed middle finger salute to the Bills fans. NFL fans regularly mock Bills Mafia fans for their over-the-top stupid antics that consistently send fans to the hospital.
This time around, however, if the accusations are true, McCain was way out of line. We will hold our judgment until we know more about the situation and the facts, should they come to light. If however, he did, in fact, spit on anyone, he should miss a game. That is simply childish and disgusting and the Dolphins should expect far more professionalism from their players.
