The Miami Dolphins have until the 29th to make any more trades before the off-season starts and DeVante Parker is drawing interest from the 49’ers.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the San Franisco 49’ers are interested in trading for Miami Dolphins receiver DeVante Parker and frankly, they are dumb if they don’t.

Early this morning it was announced that the Patriots made a trade with the Falcons for WR Muhammad Sanu. The Patriots are sending the Falcons a 2nd round draft pick in 2020. The Dolphins should get at least that for Parker.

Parker is in year one of a team friendly contract and while he is playing much better under Chad O’Shea than any time in his NFL career, Parker is a hangnail away from missing time and reverting back to inconsistencies.

There is no speculation from Schefter on what the 49’ers may be offering or what the Dolphins might be willing to accept. There is no talk of whether the Dolphins are open to trading him at all. They sure as hell should be.

  • For whatever reason, Parker continues to hang around. He has not played great for the Dolphins and yet they gave him an extension last year that saved them the 5th year option they had originally picked up. This year he has three touchdowns, one shy of his career season record and sits at 284 yards receiving. Not bad for an anemic offense.

This however should not be a reason to hold him. The 49’ers do not have a 2nd round pick in 2020 as they traded that pick to the Chiefs for Dee Ford. If I’m the Dolphins I’m asking for a 3rd in 2020 and a 2nd in 2021. That seems to be a fair deal for Parker.

My concern is however that Miami will keep Parker and regret it next year. The Dolphins are not going to pay him a big receiver salary after the 2020 season and now may be the best time to move Parker while his value is still, well, valuable.
