Miami Dolphins are 2-3 against Cleveland over the last five games
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins will face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday and over the last five games that the two clubs have played, Miami is 2-3.
If the Miami Dolphins have anything on their side going into Sunday, it is that they have won the last two between them and the Cleveland Browns but this isn’t a team that is built to win, not this year.
Miami last faced the Browns in 2016 and pulled off a 30 to 24 win. They met previously in 2013 and won 23-10. The three times before that was a run by the Browns.
The Dolphins don’t seem to play the Browns very often. The five games played have been in 2016, 2013, 2011, 2010, and 2007. Of course the Browns have been at the bottom of their division and the Dolphins have done enough to stay well enough ahead of the AFC East teams to avoid playing the bottom teams in the AFC.
That isn’t the case anymore and depending on where the Browns finish this year, Miami may play them again next season.
Overall the Dolphins lead the series 11-8 including the playoffs. In regular season games the Dolphins lead the series 9-8. Only six games in their regular season history have been played in Miami. Both playoff games against the Browns were played in Miami.
Dating back to 1970 when the clubs first played each other, the two teams have played three over time game including their last meeting in 2016. The Dolphins are 2-1 against the Browns in over time games.
Four times the teams have played on Monday Night Football. Miami is 3-1 on MNF. The last game played on Monday night was in 1992.
The longest winning streaks for each team span years. Miami held a six game winning streak that spanned 1988 to 2004. Following the end of the streak in 2005, the Browns won the next four games for their longest streak before losing the last two meetings.
On Sunday, if the Dolphins lose to the Browns, the regular season match-up will be even at nine games apiece.
