Miami Dolphins defense exposed by Baker Mayfield and company

The Miami Dolphins defensive secondary is not doing well and they are being exposed by the Browns’ Baker Mayfield after one half of football.

Entering today’s game the Miami Dolphins secondary was banged up and two of its starters, Reshad Jones and Bobby McCain were placed on IR this week. Baker Mayfield and the Browns are the beneficiaries.

After one-half of play, the Dolphins are getting beat by the Browns 28-3 and even that score looks closer than how this game is playing out. Earlier today I had a feeling that the Dolphins defense might be able to keep it close but that feeling turned out to be heartburn.

For Miami, Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown for 103 yards with most of those coming on the last drive of the half. It was also ended with three points so they have that going for them. Fitzpatrick is 11/18 and has thrown one interception. So why isn’t Josh Rosen in yet?

The Dolphins rushing attack continues to be impressively bad. Last week Kalen Ballage ran nine times for nine yards. This time around he has five carries for six yards. At least he is averaging over a yard per carry today.

Fitzpatrick is the teams leading rusher with one run for nine yards. Myles Gaskin has rushed twice for three yards and Patrick Laird has one for three yards.

As for the Browns, Mayfield already has three touchdown passes. Two of those went to former Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry and the other to Odell Beckham, Jr.  Kareem Hunt ran for his first touchdown of the season to give the Browns 28 points at the half.

Mayfield has been really solid because the Dolphins are not getting any pressure on him. He has only thrown two incompletions, 16/18 for 198 yards.

The Dolphins have a lot of work to do we know but at this rate, this game is going, the Browns are going to put up more than 40 and the Dolphins will be lucky to get a touchdown.
