Bar is open! DolfansNYC’ Miami Dolphins Metlife Takeover begins

The Miami Dolphins are in New York today which can only mean that the DolfansNYC fans are ready to roll with the Metlife Takeover!

The Metlife Takeover started 10 years ago when a small group of New York based Miami Dolphins fans started a tailgate and sat together to cheer on the Dolphins. That has since grown from less than 100 to over 1,000.

Today marks the 10th year anniversary of the event and a short while ago, the folks announced that they are set up and ready to roll!

Since the event started, the Dolphins are 7-3 on the road in New York at Metlife Stadium. The group is often heard from the corner of the upper level with their “Let’s go Dolphins” chant that can be heard on the television broadcasts.

The Jets have been very good about allotting Dolphins fans bulk tickets over the years, much to the chagrin of Jets fans, especially the ones that have to sit in the adjoining sections.

While the tailgate party is getting underway now, the party actually started last night at Slattery’s Midtown Pub in Midtown Manhattan. Slattery’s is the home pub for the DolfansNYC group and show the Dolphins games every weekend to the trove of fans that arrive for every game.

That party gets the fans riled up and on Sunday morning, 100’s of fans meet outside to board busses to the stadium where they are met by 100’s more who arrived via other means.

This annual event is underway and if you happen to be heading to the stadium today or are already there, listen for the live DJ and watch for the Dolphins alumni who show up to show their support! Or simply look for the sea of Aqua and Orange!

Next week the MetLife Takeover will continue, albeit with a slightly smaller group as the Dolphins take on the Giants.
