Randy Starks

The Dolphins fielded some really good defensive ends and tackles over the past ten years but Randy Starks gets the least amount of attention despite being one of the best in that time period.

Starks played seven seasons with the Dolphins dating back to 2008. He was added by Bill Parcells in his first season running the club. Starks’ last season with the Dolphins came in 2014. He played a final season in the league in 2015 for the Browns.

In his seven seasons, Starks made the Pro Bowl twice as a defensive end/tackle hybrid. He had four interceptions and four fumble recoveries. Hitting the quarterback 66 times over those years, Starks posted 30.5 sacks on those hits. He had 253 total tackles with 191 solo.

Starks was simply a gritty and determined interior defensive lineman who often got lost in the “name” game of the NFL. He would have been a formidable inside DT alongside Ndamukong Suh had they played together. It would have been a great front to see.
