Miami Dolphins 5 worst draft picks in this decade – Draft
By Nick Belotto
Number 5
Michael Egnew: 2012 NFL Draft, Round 3, Pick 78. Career Stats: 18 G, 5 GS, 7 REC, 69 YDS.
Michael Egnew came out of Missouri in 2012 after he was an All American in 2010. He had solid, not great, numbers in college which was part of the reason Miami chose him in the third round when he came out of college.
The hope was that Egnew would slot into the Tight End spot behind Charles Clay and act as a key weapon for Ryan Tannehill down the middle of the field. Egnew was a raw prospect but had athleticism that could have been transformed into quality football. That clearly never happened, as Egnew never found the field and when he did, he was completely invisible. He always looked slow and never really demonstrated quality hands.
Egnew’s time in Miami, and the league for that matter, was short but based on his draft status, he was definitely one of the bigger busts this last decade.
