Round 4 – (146 overall) – Dane Jackson, CB, Pittsburgh – The Dolphins return to the defensive side of the ball and add some depth to the defensive backfield.  Jackson was a 3-year starter at Pitt. Jackson has been described as having solid size, good ball skills and instincts. Jackson grades out well against the run as well.  PFF college gave Jackson an 89.8 run defense grade prior to the season.   (Mock 1.0 – J.K. Dobbins, RB, Ohio State)

Round 5 – (163 overall) – Richard LeCounte III, S, Georgia – The Dolphins return to Georgia with their first pick of the 5th round selecting the 5’11” 190 pound safety.  Some analysts feel that LeCounte is the best coverage safety in this draft. These opinions certainly were supported with is 2 interception performance in the Sugar Bowl against Baylor.  LeCounte could certainly push for playing time as there is much speculation that Reshad Jones’ time in Miami may be coming to an end. (Mock 1.0 – Christian Rector, EDGE, USC)

Round 5 – (178 overall) – Cam Akers, RB, Florida State – The Dolphins return to the running back well in an effort to improve the position.  Akers was a productive runner at FSU. He broke on to the scene by eclipsing the 1000 yard mark as a freshman. During that year he rushed for 1094 yds and 7 touchdowns.  His sophomore year was a down year with just over 700 yds on the ground. He bounced back last year, again going over a 1000 for the season, finishing with 1144 and 14 touchdowns.  He also became a factor in FSU’s passing game as he caught 30 balls for 225 yards and 4 scores. Akers provides immediate competition at the position. (Mock 1.0 – Sadarius Hutcherson, G, South Carolina)

Round 5 – (181 overall) – Jon Runyan Jr., G, Michigan – The Dolphins plan is obvious.  Improve the offensive line. Runyan certainly comes with some pedigree. Runyan’s dad, Jon Runyan Sr. played 14 years in the NFL.  The Dolphins struggled to find solid guard play last season. Runyan comes with NFL size measuring in at 6’5” and 321 pounds. Although he earned first-team All Big Ten honors, Runyan is considered a project at this point but NFL coaching could turn into a contributor.  (Mock 1.0 – Richie Grant, S, UCF)
