NFL free agency could really help QB needy teams in 2020
By Brian Miller
NFC East
Cowboys – Everything will depend on what Dak Prescott wants to be paid and what Jerry Jones is willing to pay but I would think he re-signs.
Eagles – Carson Wentz has another year or two
Redskins – Dwayne Haskins may not be the future but he should be the 2020.
Giants – Drafted Daniel Jones last April.
NFC North
Packers – Aaron Rodgers but the Packers are going to look for a future QB to develop.
Bears – Hard to think they would give up on Trubisky already but with his inconsistencies, they could but that might be in 2021.
Vikings – Still going to ride Kirk Cousins for at least another year or two to give him time.
Lions – Matt Stafford will return in 2020 but the Lions are likely to draft a QB to sit behind him for a year. Some believe they could target Tua Tagovailoa in April’s draft.
NFC South
Buccaneers – I don’t see Jameis Winston returning to the team. He is too erratic and inconsistent. I think they turn to free agency and draft a quarterback as well. It will depend on what Bruce Arians believes Winston can develop into.
Saints – They have tough decisions with two top QB’s. One proven and one who has shown a lot of potential. What the Saints do before the start of free agency is going to be interesting.
Falcons – Matt Ryan is still playing well most of the time but the Falcons need to start thinking about their future and this draft may be where they get that future.
Panthers – Cam Newton could be on his way out of Carolina and a lot of media members believe that will be the case. They would suddenly be in play for a top QB prospect and also a top landing spot for one of the impending free agents.
NFC West
49’ers – Jimmy Garroppolo lead the team to the Super Bowl, they are set.
Cardinals – Drafted Kyler Murray number one overall in 2019 draft.
Rams – Jared Goff is set for them
Seahawks – Russell Wilson
