Pick #11  New York Jets:  Ceedee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

The Jets lack any real weapons at wide receiver to help out QB Sam Darnold.  Their leading WR was Jamison Crowder with only 883 yards and averaged less than 11 yards per reception.

Jerry Jeudy is the most ‘complete’ receiver in this year’s draft but the Jets need a big play threat and Ceedee Lamb is definitely in that category.  Sure, Oklahoma’s system helped bolster his numbers at bit but he averaged 19 yards/catch and 10 touchdowns in his three years as a Sooner.

Pick #12  Las Vegas Raiders:  Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama

This pick came down to whether the team wants to help the offense or the defense with the first pick.  Having invested heavily in the pass rush last year, it’s time that HC John Gruden gives QB Derek Carr a big-time wide receiver to see if he’s worth the long-term investment.

Jeudy came into the season as the top wide receiver in the country and is still considered the best “pure route runner” in this draft.  The Raiders should thank their lucky stars if Jeudy falls to pick 12.

Pick #13  Indianapolis Colts:  Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama

Picking QB Tua Tagovailoa here was tempting considering that current starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett is in the final year of his contract.  In the end, the Colts decide to give Brissett a much needed weapon in the form of the speedy Ruggs.

The Colts could line him up opposite of T.Y. Hilton or put Ruggs in the slot.  Either way, they get a player with the ability to take it to the endzone any time he catches the ball.

Pick #14  Tampa Bay Buccaneers:  Tristan Wirfs, T, Iowa

The Bucs are in desperate need of a quarterback but will probably fill the starter’s role in free agency.  Right tackle is another major hole and so Tampa Bay grabs the last of the ‘tier one’ tackles.  Wirfs is a massive man that can control defenders in the run game and pass blocks well for a 322lb man.

Pick #15  Denver Broncos:  Grant Delpit, S, LSU

Many mock drafts have the Broncos going wide receiver in round one but the draft provides a deep class of pass catchers.  Once thought to be a top-5 pick, Delpit will provide the Broncos with a flexible piece for a head coach in Vic Fangio who likes to run a diverse defensive scheme.

Pick #16  Atlanta Falcons:  K’Lavon Chaisson, DE/OLB, LSU

While A.J. Epenesa from Iowa was initially the obvious choice, HC Dan Quinn has alternated between a 4-3 and 3-4 defense.  Chaisson is the more ‘raw’ prospect but he offers the bigger upside and position flexibility.

Pick #17:  Dallas Cowboys:  Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

If owner Jerry Jones fouls up negotiations with WR Amari Cooper, it’s possible this pick becomes a wide out.  Assuming he doesn’t, the thing missing from the Cowboys defense was a shut-down corner.  Fulton did not get many interceptions in college but he was quite good at closing down the opponent’s top wide out.
