If the Miami Dolphins are going to look at free agency for a Ryan Fitzpatrick replacement then only two in my opinion, or rather the only two I personally like from this group are Philip Rivers or Teddy Bridgewater.

Each QB represents youth or veteran leadership. If I am looking for a veteran to replace Fitzpatrick, Rivers makes a lot of sense. He gives me more of a chance to win than Fitzpatrick does but I also think signing him and replacing Fitzpatrick sends the wrong message to a team that is being rebuilt.

Bridgwater, on the other hand, doesn’t send that message as he is still young and has shown an ability to win games. He won all of his games in place of Brees last season. Bridgewater would be the penciled in starter and while I don’t see his ceiling as high as the top draft prospects, signing him would free up the need to draft a quarterback this year.

While Rivers would be fun to watch, the reality is that drafting a QB this year and letting them sit behind Fitzpatrick is the best option for the Dolphins both financially and for the long-term goals of the franchise.
