Quarterback: Draft

The Miami Dolphins could opt to go with a quarterback in both free agency and the draft and several positions on the team will indeed be filled from both in some way but at quarterback, we have to believe that Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the starter this year with Josh Rosen as the primary back-up heading into training camp.

Then, of course, there is the NFL Draft. If we are to believe that the team will, in fact, use a draft pick on a quarterback, then the third signal-caller will be added from that draft pool. Likely in round one if all the speculation and rumors are true.

There is no guarantee that either Fitzpatrick or Rosen makes it to the final 53 or for that matter are on the roster beyond the start of free agency. Miami could look to the market for another QB. Philip Rivers is now living in Florida and there are those who still think Tom Brady is a potential addition.

I don’t buy any of it. I think the most likely scenario is the position is addressed in the draft, early, and at worst, Josh Rosen is traded at some point between now and the end of the draft.
