Running back: Draft

Yes, Melvin Gordon is going to be on the market and yes, Derrick Henry is an impending free agent, and yes the Dolphins need a running back, and yes, finally, they have a lot of money. All of that being said, Miami should not remotely entertain the idea of adding a top running back in the free-agent market.

With potentially 14 draft picks available to them, the Dolphins could and should easily fill the need at the position in this April’s draft. Whether it is the middle of the first round or second round, the Dolphins should have no trouble finding a running back that could blossom into a big star.

From D’Andre Swift, Jonathan Taylor, Zach Moss, and J.K. Dobbins, to some mid-round talents, the Dolphins are in a great position to add running backs. Miami needs to overhaul the position and while free agency should supply the team with veteran competition, it is not where they should spend their money.

Simply, there are more important needs that have to be filled elsewhere when the available talent at the position in the draft is so much deeper.
