Looking at the first round of the NFL Draft post free agency start
By Brian Miller
6: L.A. Chargers: After free agency, it is clear that the Chargers are going to go after a quarterback early in this draft. More than likely that spot will be at their 6th position if not higher via trade. The Chargers let Philip Rivers go and will enter the season with Tyrod Taylor and no matter how they spin that, it isn’t going to help them win. They need to look to the future and Taylor is not it.
7: Carolina Panthers: The Panthers needed a quarterback in this draft but they made a play for Teddy Bridgewater and he is now the starting QB in Charlotte. The team is trying to trade Cam Newton but it is unlikely that Newton draws much interest from the Chargers if any, and in Miami, he likely wouldn’t draw interest either or change their draft plans if they did have an interest.
8: Arizona Cardinals: How the Cardinals managed to keep their first-round pick and still get DeAndre Hopkins is crazy but they did. They will now target defense most likely.
9: Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars are dumping salary, dumping players, and making trades to get draft capital like the Dolphins did last year but not to the same degree. With Gardner Minshew now the uncontested starter, the Jaguars have to start getting the defense fixed again after letting some players leave but also they need to get better weapons on offense as well.
10: Cleveland Browns: No one really knows what the Browns plans are but they are wasting a talented offensive team and a talented defensive team. Maybe this new head coach can get things turned around. They have talent so they may end up trading down.
