Miami Dolphins mock draft with bold move in round one
Round 2, Pick #7: Ezra Cleveland, OT, Boise State
Some mock drafts have Cleveland sneaking into the end of round one so the Dolphins might be getting a steal to start round two. A three-year starter, the former Broncos tackle is considered a ‘work in progress’ but his technical flaws can be fixed with good coaching and needs a year in an NFL weight room.
Round 2, Pick #24: Cesar Ruiz, C, Michigan
While most believe that Ruiz will be gone by this point in the draft, centers are often undervalued and he was available when this pick came up for Miami.
A good all-around player in the middle, Ruiz will vie with Lloyd Cushenberry from LSU to be the first center off the board.
Round 3, Pick #6: Malik Harrison, LB, Ohio State
Harrison isn’t the elite edge rusher that many of the linebackers in this class are which results in him falling to round three. What Harrison does do well is attack downhill against the run.
The Dolphins currently have a stable of coverage linebackers but, collectively, they were poor at stopping the run in Flores’ ‘hybrid’ 3-4 scheme. Harrison fills that role in the middle of the Dolphins defense.
