Round 6, Pick #13:  Scott Frantz, OT, Kansas State

The Dolphins trade out of the 5th round and pick up a pair of 6th round selections.

With their first pick in the round, the Dolphins select their potential right tackle of the future.  Frantz relies mostly on power which makes him well-suited on the right side; especially as a run blocker.

Round 6, Pick #29:  Casey Toohill, LB, Stanford

Toohill is the kind of player that Brian Flores, and Chris Grier, focused on this offseason.  Toohill is a ‘tweener’ DE/OLB that specializes in rushing the passer but is undersized against the run.

Round 7, Pick #13:  Bryce Huff, DE/LB, Memphis

At this point in the draft, teams are looking for special teams contributors and players with great ‘upside’ at positions of need.  Huff has the measurables to mold into either a 4-3 DE or a 3-4 linebacker.

Round 7, Pick #37:  Kahlil Davis, DT, Nebraska

Short and stout defensive tackle that relies on effort.  Will have to make the team on special teams or he could be bound for the practice squad.

At the end of the day, this draft lacks the ‘sizzle’ due to the heavy price of trading up but if the Dolphins come away with the QB, two starting offensive linemen and a starter at free safety then it would definitely be a successful draft.
