Round 2, Pick 39: RB Jonathan Taylor

There was a lot of debate here between taking J.K. Dobbins or Jonathan Taylor. Both are quality running backs who could help this team establish a solid running game. I ultimately decided on Taylor.

Taylor had two amazing years at Wisconsin, going for over 2000 yards in 2018 and 2019. He has a nose for the end-zone and can help in the passing game as well. Dobbins would have been a good pick here as well, but Taylor was, in my opinion, more responsible for Wisconsin’s success than Dobbins was for Ohio State’s. Obviously that is an argument that is different depending on how many games you watched, but for me, Taylor slightly edges Dobbins.

Round 2, Pick 56: S Kyle Dugger

Miami created a need to address the safety position in the draft after Minkah Fitzpatrick was traded and Reshad Jones was cut. After both of those moves, Miami needed to change its draft gameplan a bit and draft a safety early in this draft. With the way the mock fell, Dugger was available at 56, so I quickly snatched him up.

Dugger comes from a small school (Lenoir-Rhyne) but that shouldn’t scare the Dolphins away. According to draft analysts from The Draft Network, Dugger has that athletic versatility that would attract this front office to him. Flores and the front office seem to be prioritizing players who can do a little bit of everything and Dugger fits that mold.

He may need a year to really find his footing in terms of what position he could play, but I think by the middle of the year, Miami fans would be very happy with the decision to take Dugger at this spot.
