The Trade Out of 1 Option

So far there are no other NFL teams rumored to have interest in trading up with the Bengals for the number one overall pick. The Miami Dolphins, for now, are it.

The issue is obviously the cost of making a trade. With seven picks in this year’s draft the Bengals would love to add some more capital to work with but the value for the top pick may be too much for even the 14 pick Dolphins to move up.

The rumored cost is starting around three first-round draft picks and at least a second-round pick as well. That is a high price to pay for any player, even Joe Burrow. Rumors continue to float around that Stephen Ross is enamored with the LSU product but he does not have a say in what the Bengals do outside of throwing everything at them for him.

That wouldn’t serve the purpose of what the Dolphins were trying to accomplish last year when they gutted their roster in an effort to accumulate draft picks to get better on both sides of the ball. While some believe that the Dolphins should trade the farm, it would likely be counter-productive for the team.

It does, however, make a lot of sense for the Bengals. With more than a few holes, the Bengals have a need for more draft picks as we already stated and frankly, there are some that believe the Bengals are not 100% set on Burrow to begin with.
