There are still a lot of Miami Dolphins all-time greats to fill a team so why not try!

Brian Miller – Picking from the scraps that are left.

I will not select by round because of course the draft is over so instead, I will select by position to see if I can fill a roster of Miami Dolphins All-Time greats from the players that were not picked. In the comments, grade all of our teams and let us know who we missed.

QB – Don Strock: I choose Strock because he learned from Earl Morral, backed up Bob Griese and was a big influence on a young Dan Marino. He also ranks 7th on the Dolphins All-Time passer list. Honestly, I would consider taking him over three of the QB’s drafted in this mock. Maybe even Ryan Tannehill.

RB 1: Frank Gore – While we really pushed the “majority of his career in Miami” angle, you can’t discount that Gore at least started in his one season with the Dolphins. Unlike say, Thurman Thomas. I’m sure some of the others will say this isn’t really fair but, oh well. He is my one shot at a HOFer here.

RB 2: Norm Bulaich – Went back and forth with this one but Bulaich averaged 4.4 yards per carry in his five years with Miami and 6.9 yards per reception. He was a solid RB for the mid-’70s under Shula.

WR 1: Brian Hartline – Hartline isn’t flashy but he gets the job done and I’m going to play a tight inside offense with focus on slot guys. I need a guy with good hands.

WR 2: Howard Twilley – Twilley doesn’t have the statistical resume as some of the others but he played with the Dolphins his entire career that was more than 10 seasons. He was fast, quick, reliable, and played in a run-heavy system.

OL 1: Jon Giesler – Giesler spent 10 seasons in the NFL all with the Dolphins as the team’s starting left tackle. He is immortalized as one of the members on the Dolphins Walk of Fame on Joe Robbie Plaza at Hard Rock Stadium.

OL 2: Tim Ruddy – Ruddy spent his entire 10-year career with the Dolphins and made one Pro Bowl. He served as the starting center for nine of those years and missed only 16 games as a starter in his entire career. All of them, his rookie season of 1994. Jeff Dellenbach, drafted in round five by D. Ambrose, was the starting center in 1994.

K: Pete Stoyanovich – Honestly, as the draft ticked on this was the one guy I was hoping would not get taken and for the life of me I can’t understand why. Only Olindo Mare and Garo Yepremian have more points for the Dolphins. Stoyanovich was one of the best kickers in Dolphins’ history and holds three of the top five spots in single-season scoring.
