Allen Hurns could find himself fighting for a job with the Miami Dolphins in 2020.

Allen Hurns, WR

One of the deepest positions on the 2020 Miami Dolphins roster is wide receiver. Looking at PFF for my stats, Hurns is coming off a 2019 season where he saw 46 targets that he turned into 32 receptions for 416 yards and two touchdowns. At 6’3” and 201 LBS, he still has the wheels to stretch the field.

But, with so many quality players, the Miami Dolphins might want to clear room for a younger and cheap player to develop. With exciting talent at receiver, Miami has DeVante Parker, Preston Williams, Jakeem Grant, Isaiah Ford, Gary Jennings, and Kirk Merritt.

Looking at his contract on Over the Cap, Hurns would save $2,450,000 with only $433,333 in dead money. So cutting Hurns would have a positive financial outcome.

If young additions Gary Jennings and Kirk Merritt can step up in training camp, Allen Hurns might not be in Miami’s plans moving forward.

With Hurns 2015 season where he put up 1,031 yards and ten touchdowns on 64 receptions so far the rearview mirror, and at age 28, it might not be too hard for Miami and Allen Hurns to part ways.
