The Miami Dolphins have another two picks in round two thanks to the Texans!

Pick one – Round 2

Travis Etienne – RB: Clemson

The Dolphins opted to not go with a top running back in 2020’s draft. They traded for Matt Breida and added Jordan Howard via free agency. Both are legit runners and could very much seal the RB situation in 2020 and beyond but passing on another running back that has first-round talent and could solidify the position for years will be hard to pass up for the second year in a row.

Etienne probably wish he would have come out in 2020 but he will be the top prospect in this draft class and a very good 2020 could push him into the first round easily. Don’t rule out Alabama running back Najee Harris either.

Pick two – Round 2

Trey Hill – Center

Last year the Dolphins were expected to draft Michigan’s Cesar Ruiz but he was taken right before the Dolphins drafted. Now with another year and Ted Karras on a short-term deal, the Dolphins are going to make a move for their future.

The pick comes from the Tunsil deal and with all the changes this off-season from Bill O’Brien there is no guarantee that this team will make the playoffs.

Trey Hill has had a terrific career with the Georgia Bulldogs and checks the boxes for Chris Grier. He has the size, 6’4″, and the frame to be a top center in the NFL. Miami had plenty of opportunities to watch Hill as he showed up on Solomon Kindley’s tape. A good run blocker and pass protector, Hill is lining up as a can’t miss prospect and day one starter.

Third Round

Richard LeCounte – Safety – Georgia

The Dolphins are going to go with another Georgia Bulldog taking high-motor safety LeCounte. LeCounte needs to be more inconsistent and his coaches have called him out on that in the past. When he is on his game, he is one of the best prospects at the position but he needs to put the work in to be better on a game to game basis.

In addition to his play, LeCounte is well-liked by his teammates and that is something that Miami has focused on since Brian Flores has arrived, players that are good teammates with that said team in mind. LeCounte is a team player and this is something that does not go unnoticed.
