Brian Flores was impressive for the Miami Dolphins in his first season but season two could be better.

There is something that stands out about Flores when you talk to him or see him on camera. He carries himself with a certain non-egotistical pride that comes across like a guy you would have a beer with. Yet at the same time, it is a demeanor that earns and commands respect.

In 2019, Flores was handed one of the worst rosters in Dolphins history but no one for a second didn’t think they couldn’t beat the 2007 Dolphins with their own week one team. Flores held his players accountable for themselves, didn’t place blame and protected his players. In the process of rebuilding and changing the mindset of those players, Flores got his team to win five games that no one expected them to win.

This year, Flores has a lot more talent at key positions. The addition of veteran players with leadership qualities and even returning players from injury make the roster better. Add to the fact that Miami kept many of their youngsters from last season means they are a year more into the system.

Watching Flores this year and how the team progresses will be telling as to what we have in our coach. Were last year’s five wins a fluke or the turn we have been waiting for? We should know that this year.
